Overview
Set in the 1960's, this drama concerns a group of Europeans adrift in a young African nation struggling to define itself after independence from colonial rule. Avit, a UNESCO official, arrives on business though his true mission is to search for his wife, Laurence. He finds her living with Doumbé, a Black minister in the new government. When French business interests perceive Doumbé as too radical, they convince the other ministers to use his relationship with Laurence to discredit him and turn the masses against both of them. Racial and sexual prejudices are stripped bare
