Overview
In the early 1920's a young girl named Matsue from a very poor family is given away for adoption to a gangster who has two mistresses and a wife. Shortly thereafter, a girl named Hanako is born to one of the mistresses. Matsue grows up to become a teacher and along with Hanako tries to distance herself from her yakuza family. Both girls find their lives torn apart by conflicts among yakuza families
