Overview

A compilation documentary of the reflections of filmmaker Jeni Thornley on four generations of her maternal family from the turn of the century to the present. The film makes use of old photographs, letters, slides, home movies, and excerpts from feminist films to trace the development of the family from the extended family - functioning as a productive unit on the land - to its atomisation into the nuclear family and, by the fourth generation into further disintegration and change into a yet to be defined form
