Overview

Ogletree presents an analysis of the progress and limitations of the two Brown decisions: the first, in 1954, ruling that separate but equal is inheritently unequal; the second the next year urging desegregation in public schools "with all deliberate speed." He follows the legal case history in the pursuit of Brown including its limited successes, its failures, and what appears to be resistance to Brown's objective
