Steve Boleslavski (Edward G. Robinson) is a welder working on a new destroyer that is to replace the old John Paul Jones on which he served during World War I. When the vessel is launched, Steve goes back into the Navy and is assigned as Chief Boatswain's Mate, replacing Mickey Donahue (Glen Ford) The Skipper, Lt. Commander Clark (Regis Toomey), Knew Steve in the old days. Steve's constant striving for perfection infuriates the "new-Navy" crew, and he keeps the ship in a constant state of turmoil. Clark is urged to replace him but refuses, for Steve's love for his ship is the quality that wins wars. The Jones goes into battle, and under fire, Steve proves his mettle. With his mission completed, Steve steps down in favor of Mickey

"When Ivan Moser (Lyle Alzado), a hulking, convicted serial killer, was sentenced to be electrocuted, a devastating prison riot erupted on the day of his execution. In the wake of destruction and death, the prison was shut down and Moser became a legend. No proof of his death ever existed. Eighteen months later, a film director (Anthony Perkins), intrigued by Moser's legend and the eerie emptiness of the prison, decides to use it as a film set.
