"A despotic twelfth century Italian prince, Prospero, is a disciple of Satan. Learning that the Red Death has appeared in one of his villages he orders it to be razed, first kidnapping a beautiful young villager, Francesca, her father Ludovico and her sweetheart Gino. The men are incarcerated but Francesca he hopes to convert, thus arousing the jealousy of his mistress Juliana. During a fight in hall Ludovico is impaled and Gino is sent back to the village. Prospero prepares a court masque promising Satan's protection from the Red Death. Juliana believing that only self-sacrifice will unite her with Prospero is destroyed in a Satanic ritual. The masque begins with Death present disguised in red. Gino arrives to rescue Francesca as Death claims his last partner, Prospero"--Film Index International

The evil Prince Prospero is a devil worshipper and a tyrannical ruler. Anyone who stands against him is sentenced to death. Two men dare to denounce the Prince and are imprisoned. A beautiful woman pleads for their release, but is captured by the Prince for his own pleasures. The two prisoners are brought to the Prince at his "Masque Ball" for public torture. But there is one uninvited guest standing in the shadows waiting for the right moment to strike
